The “Podere dei Ginepri” (Estate of Junipers) is named after the estate owned by Nervi. This vineyard is located on the right side of Molsino cru at 300 metres elevation with southern, south western exposure. The plants are approximately  30 years old, with a vine density of about 4,300 vines per hectare cultivated according to the “Guyot” method. The rocky soil, rich in minerals grants the wine a bitter spiced finish.
This wine is made only in particularly climatic favourable vintages. Nebbiolo grapes are harvested only when full ripening has been reached towards the middle of October; destemmed without crushing the raisins and turned into wine in oak vats for 12/15 days  with several pump over per day for best colour extraction.
Podere dei Ginepri requires an ageing of 3 years in casks of Slavonian oak in 700-litre tonneaux and 225-litre barriques, followed by 1 year  refining in bottle before marketing.
This is an outstanding, harmonic and well balanced wine, of highest quality, worth being part of the great tradition of the territory of Gattinara.
